Laura joined MAC as Assistant Conservator in 2024 after completing her dual MA/MS in Art History and Conservation from the Institute of Fine Arts (IFA), New York University. Her early conservation training includes placements at the Museum of Modern Art, the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna, Art Conservation Solutions, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Saint Louis Art Museum, and the NYU Villa La Pietra in Florence. Holding an undergraduate degree in Art History and Studio Art from the University of Notre Dame, Laura is interested in art historical research and is passionate about integrating an understanding of artist’s intent and technique into conservation practice. Before beginning her conservation training, Laura worked for a physics lab identifying artistic materials for local museums and libraries, and her interest in materiality has informed her approach to the varied materials found in modern and contemporary art. She also holds a certificate of training for health and safety in the arts. Finally, Laura enjoys participating in the broader conservation community and serves as a liaison between the Paintings Specialty Group and Emerging Conservation Professional Network of the American Institute for Conservation (AIC).
