AD-Headshot.jpeg

Amalia joined MAC as Assistant Conservator in 2025. She brings a strong educational foundation to her role, holding both an MA in Art History and an MS in Art Conservation from the Institute of Fine Arts (IFA) at New York University, which she completed in 2025. In addition, she earned her BA in Art History from Case Western Reserve University in 2019. She has completed placements at several renowned institutions, including the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Intermuseum Conservation Association (ICA), the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, NYU Villa la Pietra in Florence, Art Conservation Solutions, and, most recently, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. Through these experiences, she has developed a broad set of skills and gained exposure to a variety of conservation environments. Her focus on the conservation of modern and contemporary paintings began during her pre-program training, where she was introduced to the wide range of materials used in modern paintings and learned about the innovative problem-solving approaches required to address their unique challenges. Amalia’s commitment to this specialization was further solidified when she worked with the MAC team during her graduate studies. She has a particular interest in the conservation of mixed-media paintings and the structural repair of works on canvas.
